Rock Drill Operating Procedures

1. Before commencing rock drilling, inspect the integrity and operational status of all components (including the rock drill, support stand, or drilling jumbo). Apply necessary lubricating oil, and verify that the air and water lines are unobstructed and that all connection joints are secure.

2. Conduct a "sounding" inspection in the vicinity of the working face-specifically, check the roof and ribs for any loose or unstable rock, and take necessary remedial measures.

3. If the working face is uneven, the specific locations designated for blast holes must be leveled prior to drilling to prevent slippage or hole misalignment.

4. Dry drilling is strictly prohibited; wet drilling must be consistently employed. During operation, turn on the water supply *before* the air supply; when stopping the drill, turn off the air supply *before* the water supply. When collaring a hole, operate at low speed initially, and only switch to full-speed drilling once a sufficient depth has been reached.
5. Personnel assisting in guiding the drill steel (collaring) are strictly forbidden from wearing gloves while drilling.

6. When using an air-leg drill, pay close attention to your stance and positioning. Never apply pressure using your body weight, and under no circumstances should you stand directly in front of the rock drill or beneath the drill steel, to prevent injury in the event of a drill steel fracture.

7. If abnormal noises are detected or if dust evacuation and water discharge appear irregular during drilling, immediately stop the machine to conduct an inspection. Drilling may only resume after the cause of the issue has been identified and resolved.

8. When retracting the rock drill or changing drill steels, the machine may be operated at a slow speed; however, maintain strict vigilance regarding the position of the drill steel to prevent it from detaching accidentally and causing injury. Ensure the air supply is shut off promptly.

9. When operating an air-leg rock drill, ensure the leg's thrust point is firmly anchored against the roof to prevent it from slipping and causing injury.

10. When retracting the support mechanism of an upward-drilling machine, manually support the drill steel to prevent it from falling unexpectedly and causing injury.
